As the author of numerous articles in professional journals, I set up the IBS Treatment Centre in Bromley (Greater London) in 1994 where I work with hundreds of IBS sufferers each year. The IBS Journey To Health package evolved from the work at the Centre.
My achieving a degree in hypnotherapy in the late 1980s attracted much publicity and proved a milestone in the recognition of hypnotherapy as an aid in treating IBS and other stress related conditions.
A graduate of London University, I am a former policy advisor to the 30,000-member British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and have served on the Governing Council of the National Register of Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists.
In the late 1990s I played a leading part in presenting a nationwide series of courses - funded by the UK's Lotteries Commission - to help IBS sufferers manage and reduce their symptoms. Subsequently I gave a keynote address at London's Royal Academy to the annual conference of The Gut Trust - the UK's national support organisation for IBS sufferers.
I am a former senior lecturer in counselling at a large UK college and an ex-IBS sufferer.
